During her time in office, Sonia and the Liberal government have focused on solving problems that are the most important to the people of Canada. Sonia and the Liberal government recognize that problems cannot be solved just by talking and that solutions need funding to ensure their success. This funding is designed to help all Canadians, but the of Brampton specifically have seen major benefits.
Also in May 2018, the Honourable Minister Jean-Yves Duclos was in Brampton South to share details of the newly launched National Housing Co-Investment Fund which is part of our National Housing Strategy.
This fund will be investing almost $13.2 billion to help Canadians, including those right here in Brampton, have a safe place to call home and will create 60,000 new affordable units and repair up to 240,000 affordable and community units over the next ten years. These investments will also support the creation or repair of:
-At least 4,000 shelter spaces for victims of family violence
-At least 7,000 affordable homes for seniors
-At least 2,400 affordable homes for people with developmental disabilities
Great news regarding affordable housing!
The #NCHF will create up to 60,000 new affordable units and repair up to 240,000 affordable and community units over the next ten years.
Investments will also support the creation or repair of at least 4,000 shelter spaces for survivors of family violence, the creation of at least 7,000 new affordable units for seniors and 2,400 new affordable units for people with developmental disabilities.
On April 6th, 2018 Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced that our government is investing $500 million over the next 10 years for a new Federal Community Housing Initiative.

In November 2017, Sonia had the honour to be at the Brampton Union St. YMCA on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development to announce funding of up to $622,000 for repair and rehabilitation of the facility. MP Sidhu would also like to thank Councillor Martin Medeiros for joining her at the announcement.
