MP Sidhu joins PM, Brampton MPs for announcement on Budget 2017 Measures
BRAMPTON–Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, along with her local colleagues joined Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to announce the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy, a feature within last week’s Budget 2017. Through an investment of $125 million, the strategy will promote collaboration among Canada’s leading centres of Artificial Intelligences, and position Canada as a world-leading destination for companies seeking to invest in its transformative potential.
The announcement, at Magna International facility at 2550 Steeles Avenue, outlined the steps taken in Budget 2017 to leverage the talent and vision of Canadians in the AI industry, and to create jobs that will benefit Canadians now and in the future.
Budget 2017 is the next step in the Government’s plan to make smart investments that will create jobs, grow our economy and provider more opportunities for the middle class, as well as those working hard to join it. Through this budget, the Government is putting Canada’s greatest strength—its skilled, talented and creative people—at the heart of a more innovative future economy.
“It is always a pleasure to have Prime Minister Trudeau back in Brampton, and it is particularly great to have him here to detail this important investment from Budget 2017 released last week,” said MP Sidhu.” “I look forward to seeing this major investment in Brampton’s talented innovators benefit Canada.”
Jobs, innovation, and growth are at the core of the Government’s new budget, seeking to leverage the brilliant minds and the progressive wave of technology changing the way we live.
“By positioning Canada at the leading edge of transformative technology, we are ensuring the Canadian economy will be ready and will harness the new Canadian economy’s potential to create jobs, growth, and unending learning opportunities for Canadians,” MP Sidhu said.
