As Holi is celebrated this week, Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, is extending best wishes for all who are celebrating in Brampton and across Canada.
The festival, also known as the Festival of Colours, is celebrated to mark the end of winter and the beginning of spring also marks the celebration of peace, friendship, and new beginnings.
While originally a Hindu celebration, Holi is cherished by many South Asians and in various communities across Canada. With brightly coloured powders and dyes, the festival brings family and loved ones together to sing, dance, eat, and paint one another in celebration.
Liberal MPs, including MP Sidhu, came together in Ottawa to film a video unveiled today for Holi celebrations and for all those celebrating.
“Holi is a joyous time to be with family and friends, to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, and to embrace new beginnings. As we celebrate Canada 150, let us always remember to celebrate Canada’s diversity that makes Canada such a strong and wonderful place. Sharing this festival and the joy that it stands for will bring families in all of our communities closer together.”
Liberal Member of Parliament for Brampton South
